Hi friends! Mother's day is coming up. Start planning what to get your mom. Or why not yourself? Constantly disappointed with you get from your spouse or children? Take things in to your own hands and get what you want.
I apologize if this a depressing holiday for you because of loss. I lost my mom when I was 13 and I understand that this holiday can have mixed emotions for people. Do something nice for yourself. What my aunt would do (yes I lost my grandma early too) is create an awesome friend retreat every Mother's day with her besties. They hired a fishing guide and had an awesome day on the river every year. Also, an awesome idea if your thinking of doing something cool for your mom is to gift her an experience. She deserves it.
Art is always a thoughtful gift. Your mom may even be shocked that you came up with something so personal and clever, after years of last minute grocery store flowers and cold eggs and toast in bed. Commission art for your grandma and she will tear up and hug you, having lost her words for a moment. Then she will will tell you how much she loves you and thank you so much. (These are typical results, not guaranteed.) The great thing about art is though it may seem expensive at first, it is an investment in something beautiful that can be treasured for decades. It doesn't have to be her furry best friend that she takes everywhere, it could be that horse she had as a kid that she still talks about. The family cat that passed last year she misses. If you have a photo of it, it can be a painting, and yes you can be in the painting too depending on canvas size.

Don't forget the card! Art cards are so much cooler than commercial greeting cards! Give her a card she will want to keep. Something beautiful that she can put in a 5 x 7 frame. Your favorite poem, quote, or inside joke hand written in a beautiful card you took the time to get from an artist will mean so much more to her than whatever you grab last minute.
